"We will rebuild, reconcile and recover.
And every known nook of our nation and
every corner called our country,
our people diverse and beautiful will emerge,
battered and beautiful.
When day comes we step out of the shade,
aflame and unafraid,
the new dawn blooms as we free it.
For there is always light,
if only we’re brave enough to see it.
If only we’re brave enough to be it.”
by Amanda Gorman
AMANDA, comes from the american poet and activist Amanda Gorman, is an influence in Las Walkyrias Collection through her distinctive character focus on subjects of oppression, feminism, race and marginalization. But our design was based on Amanda Gorman poem, “The Hill We Climb” from the inauguration of Joe Biden as the new president of the EUA. The words: peace, union, cultures, love, rebuild, people, blooms, light, hill, climb and brave, are represented in our scarf through iconic drawings and Amanda minimalist portrait. The bright yellow colour is prominent and linked to the Amanda’s coat, she used in Biden’s inauguration, and the stricking red is the pantone used on her headband and, as the dark blue, on the “We Can Do it!” American World War II wartime poster (in 1943). The color schemes relate to everyday Gorman’s fashion style.
